Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired Dialogue with leading Japanese corporations

On 10/10/2018, during 10th Mekong-Japan Summit and his visit to Japan, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired the dialogue with the leaders from leading Japanese corporations. VietinBank also co-organized this Dialogue.

Government officials from relevant ministries attended the Dialogue with the Prime Minister. Mr. Le Duc Tho, Board Member and General Director of VietinBank and Mr. Kanetsugu Mike - Board Member and President & CEO of MUFG Bank were also among the attendees.

This is the 4th time that VietinBank has had the honour of co-organising this important Dialogue with its strategic partner MUFG Bank and the Ministry of Planning and Investment. The Dialogue underscores the Government's commitment for the promotion of economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Japan. 

This year's Dialogue focused on three main themes: (i) Promoting the industrialisation of internationally competitive industries / developing of supporting industries; (ii) promoting the development of the energy sector, infrastructure; and (iii) improving and addressing environmental and social issues.

This is a very meaningful Dialogue for Japanese corporations, where they have the opportunity to present their aspirations to the Prime Minister and share feedback related to the mechanism and policies of investment in Vietnam. The Dialogue was organised in the spirit of openness and directness. The Prime Minister and ministers had given their opinions and detailed answers to the questions and issues raised by each company. 

The Management of VietinBank and MUFG at the Dialogue

At the Dialogue, the PM said : "The Dialogue today has become a regular and effective information channel between the Prime Minister, the leaders of Vietnamese ministries and major Japanese corporations. Many ideas have been openly exchanged and shall be in action shortly, through which the economic cooperation shall be more intensive and expansive."   

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Vietnamese Government’s commitment to creating the most favourable environment for Japanese companies, so that they could stably invest in Vietnam in long term, especially for the key sectors such as national; infrastructure development, environment, energy, renewable energy, manufacturing, hi-tech agriculture, high-end services and HR training. 

At the Dialogue, Mr. Le Duc Tho - General Director of VietinBank delivered a speech on the event’s significance in contributing to boosting economic, trade and investment relations between Vietnam and Japan. He also spoke of the commitment and efforts by  VietinBank and MUFG Bank to undertake the investment promotion policies of the Government of Vietnam and foster greater collaboration between  Japanese and Vietnamese companies in particular.

In the five years that VietinBank and MUFG had cooperated, VietinBank and MUFG Bank have not only set up a comprehensive collaborative relationship and successful bilateral strategy, but also organised many meaningful events for domestic and foreign businesses alike. In particular, the regular Business Matching Fair events organised in Vietnam, Japan and Thailand have contributed to the strengthening of the regional business-commercial connectivity of two banks. 

General Director Le Duc Tho reported to the Prime Minister of the performance of the comprehensive strategic cooperation between VietinBank and MUFG Bank to date as well as their plans for  cooperation in the future. VietinBank and MUFG Bank’s strong ties stand out as  one of  the most exemplary cooperative partnerships between Japan and Vietnam.

General Director Le Duc Tho expressed his sincere thanks to the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and top officials from relevant ministries for spending time with Japanese corporations in this event, as well as their constant support to the cooperative activities of two countries' business communities, especially the strategic partnership between VietinBank and MUFG Bank. 

He also expressed his commitment that VietinBank and MUFG Bank would continue to support  Vietnamese and Japanese companies, and hoped to continue receiving the attention and support of the Vietnamese Government, This will allow VietinBank and MUFG Bank to carry out their roles better,  to further reap the positive benefits from the collaboration, and continue to contribute to the prosperity of Vietnam and Japan.
