Official Visit to BTMU Tokyo Head Office

At the invitation of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Tokyo - Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU), Mr. Nguyen Van Thang - Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Le Duc Tho – Chief Executive Officer and the delegation from Vietinbank paid an official visit to the strategic partner BTMU in Tokyo, Japan from 7th to 8th July 2014.

During the visit, the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer of Vietinbank had important meetings with the Chairman of the Board of Directors, President and Management Team of BTMU addressing strategic collaboration between Vietinbank and BTMU through various co-operation programs, activities and approaches in the hope of strengthening and enhancing the effective collaboration between the two financial institutions in terms of corporate governance, risk management; human resources management, medium and long-term planning; customer development, retail banking, etc.

Chairman Nguyen Van Thang expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation for the profound, comprehensive and valuable contributions that Chairman Nagayasu, President Hirano, leaders of BTMU"s business units, as well as BTMU’secondees based in Vietnam has extended to VietinBank in past years

On this occasion, BTMU"s Management Team reaffirmed a strong and practical commitment to proactively collaborate and support VietinBank during its business model transformation and consolidation, human resources training and risk management capabilities enhancement etc. Priority purpose emphasizes on the effective utilization of competitive advantages in terms of branch network, relationship and customer base in an effort to confirm VietinBank"s position as the leading bank in retail banking, corporate banking as well as institutional banking and ensure VietinBank’s sustainable future development.

VietinBank delegation visited Ginza branch - a typical retail branch with modern technology system, high standard of customer service, appropriate layout of exchange counters, customer waiting time monitor, multi-functional ATMs and information corners etc.; BTMU Operation Center - the centralized center processing part of the operation of the bank, including cash counting, replenishment and management and ATMs operation activities, bills of exchange, bills transportation,storage and internal receipts etc. At this visit, Chief Executive Officer Le Duc Tho highly appreciated the competence of staff, the synchronized and modern systems, with straightforward and uncompromising operational standards to mitigate associated risks at the Center level. Mr. Tho also expressed his sincere thanks to the Center"s management and staff who hade enthusiastically shared valuable information andexperience to VietinBank management and senior staffs as well as supported VietinBank remarkably in the development process of its Operation Center.

Recent visit has demonstrated a tightened relationship between VietinBank and BTMU. The prosperous partnership not only brings common prosperity to the two financial institutions, but also significantly represents a long lasting friendship between the two nations. According to Chairman Nagayasu: "The relationship between VietinBank and BTMU is as close as a family, the collaboration aims at a long-term goal that is robust growth yet safe and stable development of VietinBank as well as concentrates on short term strategies which enables VietinBank to stay ahead of its peers in an increasing regional competition with sufficient resources".
