10th Steering Committee between VietinBank and BTMU

The 10th Steering Committee Meeting between VietinBank’s and BTMU (The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFG) had taken place on 5 December 2017 in Japan.

In this 10th meeting, both banks had summarized the result of the partnership. From those, leaders from both banks had expresses the commitments to accompanying each other, heading toward the next long and promising journey.

In this meeting, VietinBank’s management team has shared with BTMU about the next MTBP for 2018-2020, with detailed goals regarding sustainable scale growth and operational efficiency. In order to achieve such goals, VietinBank’s Management Team has been thinking of and expecting the results of contributions from BTMU as well as BTMU’s continual support in all banking operational aspects as a strategic shareholder.

Related to the scope of partnership and technical support in the coming time, both parties agreed to keep collaborating in many aspects such as: Retail banking, corporate banking, risk management, strategic planning, training and human resource development, and further promoting collaboration in investment banking and servicing Japanese and Vietnamese corporations. On this occasion, the Management Teams of VietinBank and BTMU had fundamentally agreed on the priority and resource allocation for each collaboration aspect and technical support.

Aside from the 10th Steering Committee Meeting, VietinBank leaders also took part in the Global Advisory Conference held by Mitsubishi-UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) and MUFG Global Partnership Conference, which both take place annually since 2016.

Overview of the meeting

This meeting is the opportunity for leaders of BTMU’s partner banks from various countries to share about their practical partnership aspects such as trust banking, banking service for Local corporate customer as well as to take part in discussions on recent topics such as Digitalization. The conference was highly appreciated by participants as it has provided very valuable insights. Members of VietinBank delegation also joined many side meetings with different units of BTMU to exchange experience on the operation of relevant businesses.

The 10th Steering Committee Meeting has made a turning point in the course of the long-term partnership established from countless efforts from both leaders and staff from the two leading banks from Japan and Vietnam. On this steady foundation jointly built by VietinBank and BTMU, senior managers of two banks have made the determination to develop a tighter, deeper relationship and a firm belief in the next comprehensive and fruitful phase of this partnership.
